There's a new player in town. Well... Sort of...
Founded in 1898 at Kutztown, Pennsylvania, on the banks of the Saucony Creek. The name Saucony was coined by Native Americans that actually translates to "mouth of a creek or river".
Saucony built its first factory in 1906, a two-story brick construction along the Saucony Creek. In 1910, Saucony was producing 800 pairs of shoes daily, mostly children's shoes as well as functional adult footwear. Hyde Athletic Industries famously known for brands such as SpotBilt and PF Flyers, founded by Russian immigrant Abraham Hyde, bought Saucony in the late 1960s and moved it to Cambridge, Massachusetts. By the late 1990s, Saucony was the cornerstone of the company and the name of the company was eventually and officially changed from Hyde Athletic Industries to Saucony.
In 2005, Saucony was acquired by Stride Rite Corporation which was then acquired by Payless ShoeSource in 2007.
Today, the Saucony logo is representation of the Saucony Creek's constant flow, and the three dots depicts boulders along the creek bed. Saucony's shoe boxes used to have the phrase "sock a knee" printed on them.
Saucony has been a staple in the running industry producing
award winning runners. Serious runners go for the brand and has been proven to be the go to shoe on some of the biggest marathons in the world.

Saucony Flagship Store located at Glorietta 3 |
Saucony has opened its first flagship store in Manila. Located at the second floor of Glorietta 3, Saucony offers runners for all foot types for their performance line and has recently released a line for their retro runners, the Saucony Originals. A great and bold move by Saucony, reviving some of their classic models has proven to catch the eyes of not just sneaker enthusiasts but also regular juans (been having trouble finding a pair of size 9US black/white Shadows)

With a trend shift to runners lately, Saucony is definitely in for a good ride. International releases have enjoyed a multitude of exclusives, namely
collabs with the likes of Sneaker Freaker, Solebox and my personal favourite, .end Clothing.
The local market has a lot of catching up to do but thanks to resellers, sneaker enthusiasts has had the privilege of grabbing sought after pairs in the market. One of my favourite among collectors is Instagram user;
